Ultimate Airstreams - Our Airstream Renovation- 30 foot Bunk Flying Cloud - Post #1
Renovating an Airstream seems to be as integral to the ownership experience as boon-docking, but Tyler and I lack the requisite skill to do so ourselves. Yet, renovate we must, so we entrusted the addition of a washer/dryer, new cabinets, and built-in dog crate to Ultimate Airstreams in Portland, OR for a whole month while we enjoy the winter splendor of Jackson, WY. We live in Runaway Mayzie, it is our home. So, to be out of our home for weeks while we make these changes would be very hard for our family. I have great respect for those who renovate Airstreams themselves and maybe one day we will but for now we're enlisting the expertise of the professionals. With our 3rd baby on the way (and our other two children currently ages 1 and 3) we needed to make some changes. The couch to the right of the kitchen is never used, except to hold things and more counter space was desperately needed for cooking. We currently have 2 dog crates on either side of our bed that are just in the way. Here was our list of problems...
- No washer-dryer
- Not enough counter space
- No good storage for my Instapot
- Would like more drawers
- Dog crates in the way
Here are the before pictures....
The plan...(The washer-dryer being added is a Deco Model 4000 in stainless)
Keep an eye out for the finished product... (We pick it up January 18th.)
So far, working with Ultimate Airstreams has been fantastic. We dropped Runaway Mayzie off earlier than they needed so we could be settled in Wyoming for a month over Christmas. They have been prompt with emails, reasonable with pricing and very accommodating. I can't wait to get our Mayzie back and be able to do laundry right at home.
